Abstract

1,158,083. Forming homogenous mats. A. AHLSTROM OSAKEYHTIO. 8 Jan., 1968 [17 Jan., 1967], No. 979/68. Headings DIN and D1R. In forming a mat of mineral fibres eg. glass fibres on a movable conveyor 7 the space 4A through which the fibres fall from a fibre producing device 1 is bounded on each side by a movable wall 4 such that binder from guns 3 or fibres adhering to the walls can be removed and thus excess binder of non- homogeneity at the edges of the mat can be avoided. The walls 4 may consist either of a number of plates 4C hinged together to form an endless band or a single band of flexible material moving around the spaced vertical rollers 6. The walls 4 move at the same speed and in the same direction as the mat and conveyor 7, the binder and fibres being removed from the walls by revolving brushes, scrapers or knives.
