Abstract

1,157,999. Aerial targets. HAYES INTERNATIONAL CORP. 23 Nov., 1966 [26 April, 1966], No. 52483/66. Heading B7W. [Also in Divisions F1, F2 and F4] An aerial target 10, towed by a line 13, carries means 16 (see Division F4) for providing infra-red radiation at its tail end. The means 16 burns hydrocarbon fuel (such as liquid propane) supplied from a fuel tank 29, at a rate controlled by a valve 36 (see Division F2) so that the rate decreases with increasing altitude; the rate of combustion air flow is similarly adjusted. The line attachment 12 may be releasable, and the target may incorporate a parachute compartment 46. The target may be fitted with stabilizing fins 11.
