In a method of electro-phoretically coating an article using as electrolyte a bath of a waterthinnable resin-based paint containing at least one pigment, the paint also contains from 0À01 to 0À25%, based on the weight of resin in the paint, of a soluble ferricyanide or ferrocyanide, e.g. the ammonium salts thereof or the alkali metal, e.g. potassium, salts thereof. The pigment in the paint may be titanuim dioxide.
