Abstract

1,155,908. Hydrostatic transmission; hydrostatic brakes. ORENSTEIN-KOPPEL UND LUBECKER MASCHINENBAU A.G. 5 July, 1967 [5 July, 1966], No. 30875/67. Headings F2D and F2E. In a hydrostatic transmission for a motor vehicle wherein a pump 17 supplies pressure liquid through a reversing valve 18 to a motor 15, overrun of the motor is prevented by a throttle valve 1 in the return line 14, 22 from the motor and the valve 1 provides increased throttling of the motor discharge as the pump supply pressure 19 decreases. The throttle valve 1 has a spool 3 slidable in a casing 1 having grooves 6a, 7a connected to the return lines 14, 22. The pump supply pressure acts through a line 16 on a step 24 of the valve spool 3 to move the latter up against the action of a return spring 5. When the pump 17 drives the motor 15 the pressure in the lines 16, 19 is high and the valve spool 3 moves up to the position shown in which it permits free flow between the grooves 6a, 7a through an annular groove in the spool 3. When the motor 15 tends to overrun the pressure in the lines 16, 19 falls and the spring 5 moves the spool 3 down to a position in which a restricted flow between the grooves 6a, 7a is through throttling bores 8, a central base 10 and a radial bore 12. The motor is thus braked and prevented from overrunning. When the pump is stopped the spring 5 moves the spool 3 down to a position in which it blocks flow between the grooves 6a, 7a and thus prevents flow through the motor and provides a parking brake.
