Abstract

1,155,714. Filter backflushing. FILTERWERK MANN & HUMMEL G.m.b.H. 15 Sept, 1966 [16 Sept., 1965], No. 41175/66. Heading B1D. Outward backflushing of coiled wire element 4 is effected by an abrupt upward movement of piston 17 causing a reversal of filtrate flow due to sudden increase of pressure inside the element 4 and a simultaneous sudden decrease of pressure outside the filter element 4. The abrupt upward movement of piston 17 is caused by steps 26 and 27 in helical surfaces 28 and 29 when sleeve 19 is rotated by spindle 21 against fixed cam 20. Sleeve 19 is attached to piston 17 by rod 18 and is urged against cam 20 by spring 30.
