Abstract

1,155,649. Ventian blinds. E. DOLENZ [trading as ERNST DOLENZ], 30 Nov., 1967 [2 Feb., 1967], No. 54463/67. Heading E1J. A Venetian blind lift tape or cord &c., winding mechanism incorporating a catch mechanism for holding the blind in any intermediate position comprises a bent arm 10 pivoted at one end at 8 in the head rail 7 and having its other end in the form of a ball 11 to contact the lift band 2 which is wound around a spool 1 attached to which, is a ratchet disc provided with a tooth or stop 13 which when the lift band 2 is tensioned by a downward pull moves from position 16 to position 17 and disengages the preferably resilient (steel) ratchet tooth 12 on the arm 10 from the stop 13 and allows the spool 1 to unwind and lower the blind. On releasing the tension on the left band 2 the arm 10 under its own weight drops and enables the teeth 12, 13 to engage and hold the spool from turning. There may be such a mechanism on each side of the spool 1. Other spools 3 are mounted on the same shaft for mounting the ladder tapes. In an alternative catch mechanism, the tensioned lift tape moves a spring pressed stop out of the path of a projection on the winding spool, (Fig. 4, not shown). Textile or synthetic material bands are preferably used.
