Abstract

1,155,615. Video recording and playback. BLAUPUNKT-WERKE G.m.b.H. 7 July, 1966 [10 July, 1965], No. 30525/66. Heading G5R. In a magnetic tape recorder for recording and reproducing video signals in which only a part of a video signal is recorded and the recorded part is scanned two or more times on playback and which includes a rotating head assembly 5 having at least one head 6 operating as a record/read head, in one plane and at least one head 7 operating as a straight forward read head angularly displaced from the record/ read head 6 and lying in another plane, the angular spacing between the head 6 in the one plane and the head 7 in the other plane and the speed of the magnetic tape 1 are selected so that head 7 runs along a recorded track which is also scanned by record/read head 6. As shown the angular distance between heads 6, 7 is equal to slightly more than 180 degrees, the magnetic tape 1 being wound in the form of a helical coil with a pitch of approximately two magnetic tape widths in a sector of slightly more than 180 degrees about head assembly 5. The plane of head 7 is separated by approximately half a track space from the plane of head 6. In a modification (not shown) one record/read head and three read heads are provided, the planes of the read heads being spaced from the plane of the record/read head by a quarter of a track space and the angular spacing of the read heads from the record/read head being just greater than 90, 180 and 270 degrees respectively, the magnetic tape beng wound as a helical coil around the head assembly with a pitch of approximately four magnetic tape widths in a sector of 90 degrees.
