Abstract

1,154,766. Aqueous silicone solutions. DOW CORNING CORP. 11 April, 1967 [14 April, 1966], No. 16582/67. Heading C3T. A stable aqueous silicone solution consists essentially of, by wt., (1) 2 to 20% of an acid amine salt of the reaction product of (A) a hydroxylated methylsiloxane liquid, and (B) a silane of the formula in which R<SP>1</SP> is H, or an alkyl or aminoalkyl radical, R is a divalent hydrocarbon (h.c.) radical, R<SP>11</SP> is a monovalent h.e. radical, Y is an alkyl radical of 1 to 5 C atoms, and n is 0 or 1, the weight ratio of A : B being from 20 : 1 to to 1: 1; (2) 10 to 25% of an alkanol containing 1 to 4 C atoms or a t-terpine alcohol; (3) 1 to 15% of an alcohol ether of the formula in which A is an alkyl radical of 1 to 4 C atoms, B is H or an alkyl radical of 1 to 3 C atoms, and x is 1, 2 or 3; and (4) 40 to 87% of water. Reaction products (1) are described in Specification 942,587. Ingredient (2) is preferably isopropanol. Abrasives, e.g. Al 2 O 3 , CaCO 3 and diatomaceous earth, soaps or detergents, fungicides, e.g. quaternary ammonium halides, perfumes and colouring materials, may also be added. Examples of the above solutions are given. Uses: for cleaning and polishing surfaces, such as tile, glass, metal and plastics.
