Abstract

1,154,227. Disposing of exhaust gases. HANS STILL G.m.b.H. 6 Sept., 1966 [7 Sept., 1965], No. 39877/66. Heading B7H. [Also in Division F1] Exhaust gases from an engine driving a forklift truck are cooled by mixing, in a chamber 10, with air drawn in through a filter 6 by an impeller 7. The exhaust gases flow through a silencer 8 and flame-trap 9 to a nozzle 15 situated in chamber 10 opposite a baffle 11 which improves mixing with the air. The fan 7 drives the air towards the chamber 10, part of the air flowing into chamber 10 through the pipe 13 and the remainder escaping through a heat exchanger 5. In a modification some of the air from the fan 7 flows over the exhaust pipe and engine.
