Abstract

1,154,165. Wrapping-machines. FLOWRAP Ltd. 19 April, 1967 [12 July, 1966], No. 43967/68. Divided out of 1,154,164. Heading B8O In a machine in which articles are wrapped in a fold of a continuous web of wrapping material which is marginally heat-sealed the sealing along the side opposite the fold being along two adjacent zones between which the web is severed by a guillotine G, the seal along the outer of these zones is interrupted to provide a marginal slot in the web, e.g. to allow insertion of a label as described in the parent Specification 1,154,164, the label being inserted just before the next batch of articles is moved to the wrapping position. As shown, the seal is formed between upper heated bars B and 5 and lower stationary bars B<SP>1</SP> and 6 respectively, the outer bar B being interrupted at 14. As the upper sealing head 4 is lowered, the article-supporting platform P moves down with it until bar 9 abuts adjustable piston rod 11, thus ensuring that sealing takes place in the mid-plane of the parcel.
