Abstract

1,153,226. Coulometers. INDUSTRIAL INSTRUMENTS Ltd. Jan.17, 1968 [Jan.19, 1967], No.2848/67. Heading G1Q. A coulometer for monitoring battery charge comprises an electro-chemical cell of the capillary tube type in which two electrodes 2 are separated by an electrolyte filled gap 1, the position of the gap at any instant indicating the charge on the battery, indicators responsive to movement of the gap into its turn limiting positions representing maximum and minimum charge on the battery. The indicators each comprise a light source S 1 S 2 and photo-cell P 1 P 2 so arranged that when the gap intersects the light path a current pulse from the photo-cell operates a relay R 1 which interrupts the circuit. The position of the gap is read on a scale on the capillary tube.
