Abstract
1,074,360. Electrolytic coulometers. VARTA A.G. May 16, 1966 [May 20, 1965], No.21699/66. Heading G1Q. The casing of an electrolytic coulometer is at least partly made of the working substance which in use is transported between the measuring electrodes. The casing thus provides a source of additional working substance which can be plated on to the measuring electrodes. In the form diagrammatically depicted in the drawing (not shown) a pot (2) of the working substance is filled with electrolyte, and a glass lid (P) into which are sealed the measuring electrodes (E) and a contact (S) for making electrical connections to the pot is fitted on to the pot. The whole can be sealed by, and encased in, a suitable insulant. A form in which the pot is made of an unspecified material internally plated with non-corrosive material (e.g. platinum) further plated with working substance (e.g. silver) is also mentioned.
