Abstract

1,152,969. Gryatory grinding apparatus. GELSENKIRCHENER BERGWERKS-A.G. 7 May, 1968 [11 May, 1967], No. 21618/68. Heading B2A. Grinding apparatus comprises a housing 1 with an inside of circular cross-section, a rotatable shaft 2 having rigidly fixed cylindrical elements or discs 10, which are relatively offset along the shaft, and an equal number of grinding rings 12, each loosely surrounding a corresponding disc 10. Each grinding element has uniform radial thickness and an outer circumference such that it can contact part of the inner wall of the housing. The lowest element 12 bears on a ring 13, which is axially non-displaceable on the shaft 2. The discs 10 have hexagonal slots mating with the hexagonal section of the shaft 2 and are staggered sequentially by 60‹. When the shaft rotates the rings 12 are pressed by centrifugal force against and roll on the wall of the housing I and rotate in reverse sense and more slowly than the discs 10, so that material, e.g. coal, introduced at 17 is comminuted and issues through spaces between webs 8 in the end 6 of the apparatus.
