Abstract
1,152,716. Furnace grates. FLYNN & EMRICH CO. 1 June, 1966, No. 17794/67. Divided out of 1,152,715. Heading F4B. In a grate, particularly for an incinerator, comprising grate sections each supported on sloping channels 12, each section comprises stationary grate bars 5 and movable grate bars 4 rocking about trunnions 13 at their front edge, a nosed stationary bar 6 forming the front of the section and a wide stationary bar 7 at the rear underlying the nose bar 6 of the preceding section. The stationary bars 5 have inverted U-section projections 8 at each end, and the trunnion sockets 14 for the rocking bars have projecting feet 15. Inverted U-section retainers 16, which have legs 17, 18 engaging the feet 15 of the sockets 14 overlie the projections 8 and are secured by bolts 19, 22, some of which pass through gaps in the web of projections 8, to the channels 12. Stops 23, 24 welded to the channels 12 locate the sockets and fixed bars. Modified retainers are provided for the front and rear bars 6, 7 of each section. The trunnions 13 are bolted to the front of the movable bars 4, Fig. 6, not shown, and have diametric splines to remove strain from the bolts and to enable the trunnions to be turned on the bars to compensate for wear.
