Abstract

1,152,298. Timepiece cases E. PIQUEREZ. Feb.26, 1968 [Feb.24, 1967; June 1, 1967], No.9129/68. Heading G3T. In a watertight timepiece case, a crystal 1 is fitted to a middle bezel 8, a groove 3 in the crystal and a groove 12 in the bezel forming a housing for a joint 4 of elastically deformable material. A tubular tool 5, the inner diameter of the lower end of which is equal to the inner diameter of the bezel, is used to initially compress the joint in the groove 3 and then to guide the crystal as it is inserted in the bezel. The crystal rests on a dial 14 and has an extraction groove 2. The groove 12 may have a rounded cross-section. In a modification a second joint is provided at the lower edge of the crystal and the inner edge of the bezel forms a frusto-conical guide surface. A similar surface is formed on the crystal so that the guide tool is not required to assemble the crystal and the bezel. Embodiments of the invention for securing a crystal to a watch bottom and a middle bezel to a watch bottom are also described.
