1,152,147. Spanners. HEINZ AMTENBRINK, [trading as HERMANN WERNER K.G.]. 3 Oct., 1967 [10 Oct., 1966], No. 45045/67. Heading B3N. A spanner comprises a ring 4 with a flange 5 thereon, carried in the eye 2 of a handle 1, rollers or pins 8 located in grooves 7 in the flange, and a clamping ring 10 screwed into the eye and engaging the members 8. Grooves 7 deepen to one end and each alternate groove is situated at a different side of the flange. In operation, the spanner is turned freely in the direction y when the rollers 8 are in the deepest part of the grooves. When the spanner is rotated in the opposite direction the rollers move into the shallow part of the grooves and ring 4 is locked in the eye. The spanner acts in the manner of a ratchet.
