Abstract
1,151,825. Parabolic function generators. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. 29 Aug., 1967 [16 Sept., 1966], No. 39399/67. Heading G4G. [Also in Division H1] A parabolic function generator for modulating the amplitudes of sinusoidal voltages applied to deflector plates of a particle accelerator (see Division H1) comprises either a variable capacitor 5, Fig. 2, having a movable plate of suitable contour or a Zener diode Z, Fig. 7, swept by a triangular waveform. In Fig. 2, the generator also comprises an amplifier tube 4, a second variable capacitor 6, an inductor 7 and a voltage step-up transformer 8 supplied by a quartz generator (not shown). In Fig. 7, the generator comprises a triangular voltage generator T 6 , the voltage being obtained from the integration at T 4 and T 5 of squarewave signals of a bi-stable multivibrator T 2 , T 3 controlled by a pulse generator comprising a single-junction transistor T 1 . The difference between the collector currents of T 7 and T 8 is passed through the Zener diode Z and while the collector current of T 8 is constant the collector current of T 7 is of triangular form, the base of T 7 being controlled by the triangular voltage generator T 6 . The transistors T 9 , T 10 operate as applicators.
