The gear shift mechanism described in the parent Specification is modified by replacing the time relay (27) in the secondary acceleratorcontrolled circuit by a switch contact 24 operated by a relay 23 controlled by the contact 19 actuated by the accelerator pedal 15, to assist rapid upshifts. A capacitor 29 may be fitted to avoid sparking.
