Abstract

1,150,564. Flares. AUSTRALIA, DEPARTMENT OF SUPPLY. 6 July, 1966 [9 July, 1965], No. 30430/66. Heading F3A. Flare to be carried by a rocket and ignited as the rocket reaches a predetermined acceleration comprises a nose cone 13, 14 and a body 1 containing a flare composition 10 which is arranged to be ignited by an electrical igniter 18 when an inertiaoperated switch 4 closes a circuit including the igniter and a battery 3, electrical sockets 5 and 6 being provided in the circuit whereby plugs 7 and 8 can be inserted to modify the electrical circuit according to whether the circuit is to be rendered safe or armed for use. Plugs to test the circuit can also be inserted in the sockets. The wall 16 is fusible.
