Abstract
1,150,452. Hydraulic control circuits. ROTORK ENG. CO. Ltd. Sept. 7, 1966 [June 9, 1965], No.24433/65. Heading F1P. [Also in Division F2] The speed of a double acting hydraulic piston 22, Fig. 6, is reduced near either end of its stroke by movement of connected axially sliding spools 11, 14 of a main control valve 10 and speed control valve 15 and which is effected when one or other of connected cams 44, 45 are rocked by a link 49, connecting said cams to the rod 23 of piston 22 so as to abut, one or other of rollers 48, 47 to swing a bell crank 46 about its fixed pivot 50a to displace an extension 43, 12 of spools 11, 14; the initial positioning of spools 11, 14, being effected by a two-portion pilot valve 16 the spool 17 of which is positioned either by a manual handle 6 and cam 58 abutting an extension 18 of the spool 17 by remote control of solenoids 55 and 56. As shown piston 22 is held at its forward end position by pressure from a supply line 26 being admitted to opposite sides of the piston through main valve 10 and line 19 and through line 39, valve 16, lines 40, 34, valve 15 a restricted line 28 and a line 20. To initiate the inward stroke of piston 22 handle 6 is moved to the position shown in Fig. 2 resulting in the spool 17 of pilot valve 16 being moved to its other position in which it connects both ends of speed control valve 15 to a return reservoir 27 to allow the connected spools 11, 14 to be moved to the right by a spring 57. In this position of spools 11, 14 the R.H. side of piston 22 is connected to reservoir whilst the L. H. side is connected through line 19, valve 10 and line 24 to the pressure line 26. As the inward stroke of piston 22 proceeds, cams 44, 45 which are adjustably secured together are rocked clockwise about their common axis until near the end of the piston stroke the nose of cam 44 abuts roller 48 to move extension 43 to the left as shown, Fig. 3, and to which the bell crank is pivotally secured at 50. Valve 10 continues to pass pressure fluid to the LHS. of piston 22 but blocks exhaust from RHS. which is relieved through restricted line 29, valve 15 lines 35, 40 and 41. To initiate the outward stroke of piston 22 handle 6 is moved to its R. H. position, Fig. 4 (not shown), resulting in pilot valve spool 17 being moved so as to direct pressure fluid along lines 40, 34 to move spool 14 and hence spool 11 whereby valve 10 directs pressure fluid from line 26 through line 20 to the R. H. S. of piston 22. As piston rod 23 extends outwardly of cylinder 21, cams 44, 45 rotate anti-clockwise until near the end of the stroke cam 45 moves roller 47, Fig. 5 (not shown), to rock lever 26 and move extension 43, 12 and connected spools 11, 14 to the position shown in Fig. 6. Cams 44, 45 are linked at 64 to a rod 51 having a cam 52 which actuate limit switches 53, 54 to de-energize the remotely controlled solenoids 55, 56.
