Abstract

1,150,438. Cabinets; storage systems. BRUYNZEEL SCHAVERIJ N.V. 3 May, 1966 [3 Jan., 1966], No. 19361/66. Headings A4B and A4T. Storage cabinets are moved along rails 14, 15 to create access passages therebetween by fluid-pressure operated actuators 17 mounted on the cabinets. Each actuator consists of a cylinder mounted underneath or on the underside of the lowest shelf of each movable cabinet and the piston passes through an aperture in the cabinet-skirting and presses against the skirting of an adjacent cabinet. The piston consists of a tubular member 20 and an inner rod 21 telescoping therein and is displaced by compressed air fed to the cylinder from a terminal box on each cabinet and connected to supply by an extensible, flexible conduit spirally wound on a rod extending above the cabinets. In modifications, the piston presses against a wall of the room, an abutment on the floor, or a lever fixed below the shelf to swing out and press against an adjacent cabinet.
