[Also in Division C7] Apparatus for gas welding or cutting comprises an electrolyser cell comprising a container 2 for electrolyte, e.g. 5-50% KOH, NaOH and/or LiOH solution, divided into two compartments by a porous diaphragm or membrane 7 and adapted to produce oxygen and hydrogen separately, a torch or burner for burning the gases, and two pipe or conduit means preferably including a flash-back arrester in one or each, for conveying the gases separately, e.g. from gas outlet 20, 22 to the torch or burner or a preliminary mixer. The container 2 may constitute the cathode, the anode 12 being connected to the cover 4.
