Abstract

1,149,881. Grippers in printing presses. SCHNELLPRESSENFABRIK KOENIG & BAUER A.G. 27 April, 1966 [15 May, 1965], No. 18514/66. Heading B6C. Apparatus for transferring sheets in printing presses comprises endless gripper chains 3, a gripper system attached to the chains, the gripper system being interlocked by hooks and locking rollers to a drive-shaft 4 during the period of sheet transfer, bearings rigidly located on the drive-shaft for receiving the gripper system, and means for retaining the system in the bearings. The gripper system comprises a pair of opposed bearing plates 9 mounted in corresponding positions on said chains at the sides thereof facing each other, a rod 6 rigidly connecting the bearing-plates 9 to each other, a gripper shaft 5 rotatably mounted at its opposite ends on the bearing plate pair, a plurality of grippers 7 secured to the gripper shaft and fixed abutments 8 mounted on said rod 6 and aligned with the grippers 7 for receiving and gripping the end of a sheet. The gripping system has locking rollers 15 radially below the fixed abutments 8 each roller being retained when necessary in a V-shaped bearing 16 by a hook 18 pivotable with a shaft 19.
