Abstract

1,149,701. Fibre optic assemblies. AMP Inc. Oct.3, 1967 [Nov.1, 1966], No.44952/67. Heading G2J. A mounting device for fibre optic bundles 5 comprises a member 4 having passageways 30 into which the bundles are inserted, the member being connected to the forward open end of a reflector 3 surrounding a light-bulb 2 in a holder 1 so that light from the bulb is reflected into the bundle. The fibre optic bundles may consist of fibres 44 having a plastics covering 43 and be held in the passageways by crimped termination members each consisting of sections 35 and 36 for grips the bared fibres, lances 40 for latching in depressions 32 in the passageways, a section 38 with bevelled edges 38a for engaging a flat 33 to correctly position the bundle ends, and a section 39 having bevels (42) on its inner surface for gripping the bundle covering.
