Abstract

1,149,493. Photographic silver halide material. EASTMAN KODAK CO. July 22, 1966 [Aug.2, 1965], No.33025/66. Heading G2C. A photographic silver halide element for use in rapid processing contains a spectrally sensitized silver halide layer, a silver halide developing agent and a 1:3-dihydroxy carbocyclic compound which does not have hydroxyl groups in adjacent positions, such as 1: 3: 5-trihydroxybenzene, 1: 3- dihydroxy-benzene and its 4-chloro-derivative, 1: 3-dihydroxycyclohexane and its 5: 5-dimethyl- or 4: 6-dicyano-5: 5-dimethyl-derivatives and 1:3- dihydroxycyclopentane and its 4:4-dimethylderivative. The element may also contain carbocyclic 1:3-dione stabilizers such as 1:3-cyclo hexane-dione and its 5: 5-dimethyl-derivative, hardener precursors and water-insoluble particles such as those of resins, oxides, glass, starch, hardened gelatine and calcium and barium sulphates and carbonates.
