Abstract

1,149,308. Packaging - machines. VSESOJUZNY ZAOCHNY hISTITUT PISCHEVOI PROMYSHLENNOSTI. 20 June, 1967, No. 28408/67. Heading B8C. [Also in Division A2] In mechanism for packaging finished multitier cakes constituting the final mechanism in an automatic installation for making and packing such cakes (see Division A2), each cake is lifted, by a lifting and lowering appliance, from its conveyer to a position between and above two moved-apart holding plates. These plates are then moved closer together and the table is lowered to leave the cake supported on the plates and to receive the lowermost empty box pushed, by a pusher 107, out of a vertical stack of empty boxes in a store 13, Figs. 1 and 11. The holding plates are then moved apart, so that the cake is deposited in the box and the table is lowered still further to deposit the filled box on said conveyer, which carries it out of the installation. Upper and lower electrical contacts 121 may be installed at the level of the 10th and 2nd empty box from the bottom of the store 13. When ten or more boxes are in the store, the upper contacts are kept open, but, when the number falls below ten, said contacts close and cause a warning signal light indicating "Boxes Needed" to be switched on. When only one empty box remains in the store 13, the lower contact stops the electric motor 18 driving the installation.
