In a time division multiplex telecommunications exchange system in which time staggered pulses are transmitted along a transmission line the line is constituted by a number of wires of small diameter twisted together. The line may be of Litz wire or each individual wire may have a highly conductive outer coating. The arrangement is said to reduce the variation of resistance of the line with frequency thereby reducing cross talk between pulse channels.
