Abstract

1,148,722. Chromatography columns. ABCOR, Inc. 12 April, 1966 [12 April, 1965], No. 16073/66. Addition to 1,028,870. Headings B1L and B1X. A chromatographic column comprising an absorbent contains at least two transversely arranged spaced baffles 42, 48 (Fig. 6) having no absorbent therebetween, the upstream baffle 42 having a single central flow passage and the downstream baffle 48 providing more than one radial flow path. The downstream baffle 48 may be a perforate disc other than one with only a single aperture, or an imperforate disc providing a flow passage around the periphery thereof. A further baffle 52 may be provided upstream of said upstream baffle 42 and with no absorbent therebetween, which may also be an imperforate or perforate disc. As shown, said further baffle 52 has a filter element 17 separating it from the absorbent. As illustrated in Figs. 7 and 10 (not shown) said upstream baffle may be dished on both sides.
