In a shuttleless loom in Which an inserter takes a loop of weft part way into the shed and transfers it to another inserter a weft guide rod 44f is depressed into the path of the first inserter in a vertical rectilinear direction at the same time as a weft brake, 59, 60 is released. One guide 47 and brake 59, 60 is provided for each weft and the appropriate weft is selected from a pattern mechanism 32 which places a lever 27a . . . 27f in the path of a vertically oscillating bar 22 Which through a lever 25a ... 25f depresses a dome 35, against the action of a return spring 41, to depress a bridge piece 43a connected to the appropriate guide and brake.
