Abstract

1,148,441. Pre-fabricateing brick walls. DUNCAN STEWART (BONNYBRIDGE) Ltd. 20 April, 1967 [21 Jan., 1966], No. 2772/66. Heading E1S. Apparatus for the automatic vertical prefabrication of cavity brick walls comprises a portal-like framework 1 through which a wall-supporting trolley 6 is moved, the framework supporting an elevator 8 comprising two parallel sets of parallel endless bands 11 with spaced brackets thereon, which elevator transports the bricks from a conveyor 10 to a vertically movable platform 3 carrying the bricklaying apparatus. This apparatus includes a ram 21 for pushing the bricks off the elevator between spring-loaded plates 23 and on to a mortar bed which has been laid from a hopper 9 (Fig. 4), whereafter they are moved horizontally by piston 39, past spring-loaded plates 40, collecting mortar in front of them as they move, and at the next movement of the trolley are passed down into the mortar by a further piston 41 (Fig. 2, not shown). The hopper 9 delivers a charge of mortar to each brick via a passage 33, normally blocked at its lower end by a plate 32, but moved intermittently into a position above a further passage 34 to deliver the charge. The trolley 6 is moved intermittently by apparatus including further piston and cylinder devices 42 (Fig. 7, not shown).
