Abstract

1,147,717. Luminescent screens. CSF. COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FIL. 18 July, 1967 [19 July, 1966], No. 32940/67. Heading C4S. [Also in Divisions G2 and H1] A phosphor suspension for the manufacture of colour T.V. screens comprises an aqueous solution of polyvinyl alcohol and NH 4 bichromate having a viscosity of 5-50 poise which may be achieved with solutions of 10-12% P.V.A. of molecular weight 100,000 or 200,000. The suspension contains an antibubbling agent, a dispersive agent and colloidal silica to prevent oxidation of the phosphor. Phosphor patterns are applied by silk screen printing then heating to 450‹ C. Phosphors are Zn and Cd sulphides activated by Ag or Cu. Antibubbling agents are stearic acid, isobutyl alcohol, diethyl phthalate, tributyl phosphate and silicon oil polymers. Dispersive agents are lauric alcohol or NH 4 polyacrylate.
