Abstract

114,753. Lethbridge, R. J. Aug. 20, 1917. Addition to 106,957. Bed-lifts.-A bed-lift support as described in the parent Specification is provided with pulleys and gearing for raising the cradle or support on which the invalid rests. Lifting-cords A are attached to the side-bars S of the cradle and pass over pulleys to floating bars C to which are attached cords D which are wound on reels F' actuated by hand-wheels F. The reels are connected by a chain D<1> passing round toothed wheels so that the lifting-cords may be actuated from either side of the bedstead. The attachment of the cords A to the bars C allows the inclination of the cradle to be adjusted by the occupant. The cradle may comprise side bars S connected by telesscopic end bars, the bars S engaging in folds or hems T in cross strips R of fabric, these strips being laced to the bedstead side rails when the lift is not being operated. In a modification, the cradle comprises a piece of fabric R supported by curved side members S. A bed-table or book-rest may be attached to -the supports and comprises a top H supported by bars E<1> slidably mounted in slots formed in brackets I pivoted to the uprights.
