Abstract

1,146,583. Selective signalling. SERCK CONTROLS Ltd. 1 April, 1966 [8 Jan., 1965], No. 887/65. Heading G4H. A communication system comprises a plurality of transmitting networks 1, 2, 3, 4 (Fig. 1), the signals from which are time multiplexed on a common communication channel, synchronization being effected by a transmitter or land line circuit operating at a frequency which is lower than that of the communication channel by a factor of ten. In the embodiment described a selection gate 13 is enabled when a train of five pulses is received at a signal receiver 9 so that a signal representing an eloctricity network 1 is transmitted to the common channel 17. After a predetermined delay the output from a water network 2 is transmitted. When a pulse train of six pulses is received a selection gate 15 is enabled to transmit a signal from a gas network 3 and similarly after a fixed delay any signal from an emergency network 4 is transmitted via a gate 16. For the sequences of five and six pulses to trigger the respective systems it is arranged that five pulses must precede the six pulses and vice versa, the networks not being enabled if this sequence is not maintained.
