Abstract

1,145,801. Milking machines. ZERO MFG. CO. Inc. 12 Feb., 1966, No. 6282/66. Heading A1M. A milking system has teat cups 10 connected to a claw 21 the lower part of which is connected to or constitutes a milk receiving vessel 22. A first vacuum line 17 is connected by way of a pulsator 30 to the teat cups and, by a path by-passing the pulsator, to the claw. The vessel beneath the claw is connected to a second vacuum line 27 in which the pressure is lower than in line 17. By use of a regulator 53 the pressure in the claw may be maintained higher than in the pulsator. A regulator 55 may also be used to maintain the required pressure difference between lines 17 and 27, both lines being evacuated by the same pump 26. In use vacuum in line 27 withdraws (or initiates a syphon action which withdraws) milk from the receptacle 22 and the vacuum in line 17 de-aerates the milk. A float valve 31 in the receptacle 22 controls the release of milk. As shown the milk is delivered to a milk receiving and vacuum tank 25, and to collect it for transport a vehicle mounted vacuum tank 41, Fig. 5 (not shown) is connected to the tank 25, and provided the vacuum in the mobile tank is as high as that in tank 25 the milk can be withdrawn without breaking the vacuum in tank 25. Figs. 3, 4 and 11 (not shown) each depict a set of teat cups connected to a claw which is integral with or connected to an associated vessel corresponding to the receptacle 22 of Fig. 1; Figs. 2 and 6 (not shown) depict milking installations in which several cow milkers are connected simultaneously to the lines 17 and 27 of Fig. 1; the Figs. 7 to 10 not shown) depict constructional features of the receptacle associated with the claw - in particular (Fig. 7) a more elaborate discharge valve than the simple ball 31 of Fig. 1 and the used in the receptacle of a fluted conical baffle and filter (135). Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,066,573.
