Abstract

1,145,774. Photographic copying apparatus. SIMMON BROS. Inc. May 9, 1966, No. 20411/66. Heading G2A. The invention is concerned with the type of copying apparatus in which light from one or more sources 13 is mixed in an integrating chamber 17, passing out through an exit window 18 to illuminate the negative which is being copied. A number of chambers 17 are provided, of different sizes, and having different sizes of exit windows, and these are interchangeable in the apparatus, so that the chamber may be chosen which is the most suitable for the particular size of negative to be copied. In the form shown, there are two light sources 13, each situated at one focus of an elliptical reflector 14, the other focus being at the entrance window 16 of the chamber 17. Colour filters and ultraviolet and infrared filters, 23-27, can be interposed in the light path when the apparatus is used for colour printing. The filter assembly housings 22, and the lamp and reflector assemblies 14, are slidably mounted on tracks (8, 9 Fig. 1 not shown) and can be secured thereto after the selected chamber 17 has been mounted in position. A system of grooves and ridges 37, 38 form light locks. The chamber 17 rests on a bottom plate 39 which has a rectangular exit window, and rests on a sheet 42 of opalized plastic or glass.
