Abstract

1,145,440. Universal joints. MASCHINENFABRIK STROMAG G.m.b.H. 27 Nov., 1967 [13 July, 1967], No. 53888/67. Heading F2U. A universal joint constructed for easy assembly or removal without axially displacing the coupled shaft ends viz. hubs 1, 2, comprises two similar joint halves each formed by three rings 3, 4, 5 and 6, 7, 8, the middle rings 4 and 7 each being of an elastic material bonded to the rigid rings 3, 5 and 6, 8 respectively, the outer rings 5 and 8 having interengaging teeth 5a and 8a with sufficient axial clearance 9 to permit radial insertion, or withdrawal, of the interconnected joint halves between the hubs 1 and 2 which have shoulders 1a, 2a on which the inner joint rings 3, 6 are centred and retained by screws 10.
