Abstract

1,145,056. Retractive switches; cam-operated switches. CROUZET. 3 June, 1966 [10 June, 1965], No. 24803/66. Heading H1N. A switch having a contact 4 pivotable about a terminal 5 between fixed contacts 6, 7 is actuated either by a push button 13 or a cam 14a on a rotary shaft 14, acting through a lever 9 pivoted at la and a snap-action spring 8. On release of button 13, spring 8 returns the parts to their stable positions shown in Fig. 1. When the shaft 14 is mounted as shown in Fig. 1 (and Fig. 2), on anti-clockwise rotation through an angle (a), a finger 14b axially offset from cam 14a abuts a stop 2<SP>1</SP>a and the cam depresses a boss 9a on lever 9 to changeover contact 4. On release of the force rotating shaft 14, the spring 8 returns the contact, lever 9 and shaft 14 to their original positions. If the shaft 14 is turned end-to-end (Fig. 3), (not shown) on anticlockwise rotation a nose (14<SP>11</SP>a) on the cam depresses the boss 9a to changeover contact 4, and on continued rotation (angle #) till the finger 14b abuts a stop (2<SP>1</SP>b), the cam 14a rides on the boss 9a. Contact 4 and lever 9 are returned to their original positions under spring 8 by rotation of shaft 14 in the opposite direction. Terminal pins of the contacts plug into sockets in a mounting plate 3. Plastics parts 1, 2 and 3 are held by screws 16 or spring clips 17.
