Abstract

1,144,942. Shovel excavators. BARSYKE Ltd. 16 May, 1967 [18 May, 1966, 15 Sept., 1966], Nos. 21979/66 and 41263/66. Heading E1F. In a tractor-mountable shovel excavator unit there is provided a cam-actuated linkage for causing lateral swinging of a shovel-carrying boom as the boom is swung upwards. Two embodiments of the linkage are described. In one embodiment the cam has several cam tracks that permit, by controlled entry of a cam follower into an appropriate track, of swinging of the boom to one side or the other of the centre line of the unit or of locking it on said line against lateral movement with respect thereto. In the other embodiment only a single track 18 is provided in the cam so that the linkage 92 can only swing the boom 56 from off the centre line of the excavator unit to the side thereof on which the linkage 92 is positioned. For movement of the boom to the other side the linkage must be repositioned on that side between the follower and the boom. A manually over-rideable, cam-controlled valve 22 is also provided on the boom 56 for automatically causing swinging of the dipper stick 70 of the unit relative to the boom in a predetermined manner as lateral swinging of the boom occurs.
