An ejector plate 27 for an excavator bucket is freely pivoted about the pivot pin between the bucket 1 and a supporting arm 20 so that the free end of the plate can move relatively to the bucket along a path corresponding in curvature to the bottom of the bucket either as a result of gravity, or pressure from fill entering the bucket, or from a stop 28 on the plate engaging the arm 20 dependent on the angular position of the bucket relative to the arm.
