1,144,479. Lock nuts. J. J. ROSSMAN, E. HUDGINS, and A. J. KRAMER. 26 July, 1966 [1 Dec., 1965], No. 33544/66. Heading F2H. An hydraulic lock-nut comprises an annular recess 19 in one end connected to a bore 22, 23. a pressure plate 33 is disposed in the recess 19 together with a seal 32. having flanged sides extending along the recess, a seal 26 is disposed in the bore 22 and a screw 28 in the bore 23, the space between the seals 26 and 32 is filled with hydraulic fluid by means of a duct 36 having a plug 37, so that when the nut has been tightened, it can be locked by rotation of the screw 28 to force the plate 33 outwards against an abutment and create an axial force between the nut and the bolt. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 908,360.
