A striker, e.g. for a door chime which may be similar to that described in Specification 1,050,174 comprises a solenoid and plunger characterized in that the outer surface of the plunger and/or the inner surface of the solenoid is coated with a solid lubricant. As described, a coating of P.T.F.E. is applied to the plunger by making a suspension of P.T.F.E. in distilled water, applying the suspension to the plunger by dipping or spraying then drying and sintering the coating.
