Abstract

1,143,648. Fluid-pressure systems. VERWALTUNGSGESELLSCHAFT MOELLER und NEUMANN o.H.G. Oct.27, 1966, No.48296/66. Heading F1P. A pair of pistons 2 each has a rod 3 for operating e.g. flying shears, and each divides a cylinder 1 into two chambers 1a, 1b, one or other of the chambers being pressurized before the other is returned, whereby the initial movement of the piston rods is rapid. The chambers 1a of the cylinders are inter-connected by a line 4 and the chambers 1b by a line 5, each line 4 or 5 being connected through an identical circuit to a pneumatic or hydraulic pressure line 40 and to a return line 25. If the line 8 is to be pressurized and the line 9 relieved, for causing upward movement of the rods 3, a slide valve 30 is operated to supply pressure fluid from the line 40 via non-return valves 42, 26 to the chambers 1a. Movement of the pistons 2 is prevented by fluid trapped in the chambers 1b by a non-return valve 11 in the line 9. To initiate the movement, a valve 17 is operated to direct fluid from the line 40 to a line 19 and thus cause the opening of the valve 11 whereby fluid inthe chambers 1b is relieved through an adjustable throttle valve 13 to a line 15 leading to the return line 25. The pressure line 40 is connected through the non-return valve 42 to an air-loaded tank 43. The valves 30, 17 and the corresponding valves 31, 16 for operation in the reverse direction may be solenoid operated.
