Abstract

1,143,511. Rotating display devices. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. 28 March, 1967, No. 13949/67. Heading G5C. A plurality of similar regular equilateral triangular prism shaped elements 11-15, which are each pivotally mounted for rotation about the axis passing through the circumcentres of both triangular faces, are rotated in turn through 120 degrees by an operating member 40 engaging in twin cams 21-25 rigidly connected to the elements, restraining means 64 (Fig. 2) preventing any element from rotating except under the influence of the operating member. The prisms are provided with axles 31-35 rotatably journalled in bearings 51-55 in two circular plates 45, 46, such that the elements are at equal intervals around the circumference of a pitch circle 44 of plate 45. The restraining means consists preferably of a smooth non-extensible plastics band 64 in combination with a light tension spring 68 connected to a rigid mounting 67. The operating member consists of a leaf-spring 41 carrying a finger 43 which engages the cams. In the case of the elements being additionally rotated by means of a turntable 61 about a central axis 47 (Fig. 2), the member 40 is connected to a stationary support 42. When the elements are not so additionally rotated the member 40 may be mounted on the outer end of a rotating arm pivoted about the central axis 47 to produce the necessary relative movement between the member 40 and the elements. Either advertising matter is carried on the faces of the elements, or articles are contained in hollows in the faces.
