Abstract

114,339. Imray, O., (Soc. of Chemical Industry in Basle). March 27, 1917. Disazo dyes are obtained by coupling the tetrazo compound of a 3 : 3<1> - diaminodiarylmethane or substitution product thereof (except 3 : 3<1> - diamino - 4 : 4<1> - dioxydiphenylmethane) with two molecules of a naphthol sulphonic acid or with one molecule of a naphthol sulphonic acid and one molecule of another naphthol sulphonic acid or any other component. Dyes are specified from the following components :-3 : 3<1> - diaminodiphenylmethane, 3 : 3<1> - diamino - 4 : 4<1> - dimethyldiphenylmethane; 1 : 3 -, 1 : 4 -, 1 : 5 -, or 2 : 6 - naphthol sulphonic acids, 1 : 4 : 8 - or 2 : 3 : 6 - naphthol disulphonic acids; #-naphthol, 1 - (4<1> - sulpho) phenyl - 3 - methyl - 5 - pyrazolone, acetoacetic anilide; 1 - phenyl - 3 - methyl - 5 - pyrazolone or its nitro or carboxylic derivatives, and methylketol, are also mentioned as components. The products dye wool red, orange, &c. shades. 3: 3' - Diaminodiarylmethanes and their substitution products are prepared by reducing the corresponding nitro compounds, which are prepared in a similar manner to 3 : 3<1> - dinitrodiphenylmethane.
