Abstract
1,143,333. Propylene oxide. HALCON INTERNATIONAL Inc. 3 Oct., 1967 [12 Oct., 1966], No. 45020/67. Heading C2C. Propylene oxide containing hydrocarbons having from 5 to 7 carbon atoms per molecule is purified by fractionating the impure propylene oxide at a pressure of from 3 p.s.i.a. to 100 p.s.i.a. in the presence of at least one part by weight of a solvent hydrocarbon having from 8 to 15 carbon atoms per three parts by weight of impure propylene oxide, the propylene oxide being recovered as overhead and the bottoms comprising the solvent hydrocarbon and hydrocarbons having from 5 to 7 carbon atoms per molecule. In the example, n-octane, 1-octene and ethyl cyclohexane are employed as solvent hydrocarbons.
