Abstract

1283435 Purifying sec. butanol ESSO RESEARCH & ENG CO 17 April 1970 [2 Sept 1969] 18385/70 Heading C2C A crude sec. butanol feed containing organic impurities of higher and lower boiling point than the butanol and 10-25 wt. per cent water is purified by introducing said feed to the upper portion of a distillation column, azeotropically distilling the lower boiling components from the top of the column and recovering purified sec. butanol vapour from a point on the column below that at which the feed was introduced.
