Abstract

1,142,817. Glass-polycarbonate laminates. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 1 Sept., 1966, No. 39025/66. Heading B5N. A laminate comprises a transparent foil 0À5 to 2À0 mm. thick of high molecular weight polycarbonate derived from one or more bivalent phenols, stuck in a slidable manner by means of a transparent adhesive layer 0À05 to 1À00 mm. thick to a glass plate 2À5 to 7À0 mm. thick. The polycarbonate layer may be coloured, and may have its exposed face covered with a vapour-deposited transparent coating of SiO x , where x is 1 or 2. The glass layer may be curved, pre-stressed, coloured and/or ground and polished. The adhesive may be a polyacrylate, silicone rubber, a hardenable polyesterstyrene mixture, a plasticized epoxy resin or polyvinyl butyral. The laminate may be formed under reduced pressure in an autoclave.
