1,142,635. Photo-mechanical and multi-colour printing processes. J. B. CROSSLAND. April 28, 1966 [June 22, 1965], No.26303/65. Addition to 977, 234. Headings G2C and G2M. Negatives for use in preparing photo-mechanical printing plates are produced by making a negative of the subject on an orthochromatic or panchromatic film, making two positive transparencies of the negative on orthochromatic film, one transparency being continuous tone and accentuating, i. e. making lighter, portions of the subject and the other transparency being half-tone and accentuating the lighter portions of the subject, registering the two positives and producing the required negative on orthochromatic film. For colour printing, four colour separation negatives of the subject are made on panchromatic film using red, green, blue and yellow filters. From each negative two positive transparencies are produced, registered and photographed to produce the required negative as set out above.
