Abstract

1,142,524. Producing white light. WELCH SCIENTIFIC CO. 2 May, 1966 [5 May, 1965], No. 19189/66. Heading F4R. [Also in Division G2] A combination light source for use in printing enlargements of colour photographs comprises three separate light sources 20, 21, 22 in vertically spaced relationship. Each source has the configuration shown in Fig. 4, light from a lamp 35 having a rear reflector 34 being collimated by lenses 42, 44. Two filters 50, 51 limit the light transmitted thereby to a selected wavelength band. A dichroic filter 52, placed at an angle of 45 degrees, directs the filtered light downwards along the central optical axis 30 to the condenser lens system. A similar arrangement of filters is provided for each of the three sources, which are angularly spaced 30 degrees apart (Fig. 3). These sources are respectively red, green, and blue, and their intensities are separately controlled by variable resistances, e.g. 60. Light from all three sources combines along the axis 30 to provide a uniform beam of white light of three identifiable, individually controllable, and accurately trimmed colour components.
