Abstract

1,141,089. Reciprocating conveyers. KARL HULLER G.m.b.H. 17 Oct., 1967 [21 Oct., 1966], No. 47375/67. Heading B8A. [Also in Division B3] Conveyer apparatus for an assembly line includes plates 16 for supporting workpieces or other elements, there being reciprocating means 18, 28 for moving the plates and means 50 for positioning the plates after each step-by-step movement. The plates are moved to the right along upper guide track 96 and, after transfer to a lower guide track 98 by means 26, travel to the left after which they are raised by transfer means 24 and replaced on the upper track 96. Reciprocating drive. Longitudinal rod 18 has a number of members 28, one for each plate 16, the members 28 being engageable or disengageable with the plates by axial rotation of the rod by piston-cylinder means 36, the rod being longitudinally moved by piston-cylinder (38), Fig. 3 (not shown). Positioning means 50. A pair of locating members 54 for each plate is fixed to a rod 52 which is axially rotatable by piston-cylinder (62), Fig. 1 (not shown). Transfer means 24, 26. Each comprises a U-form gripping member 102 having a spring- pressed ball 120 for engaging the plates 16. The member 102 is rotated between its upper and lower positions by a piston-cylinder device 108. Modifications. In Figs. 19-23 (not shown) an assembly line (126) includes a number of cam controlled units (128, 130), e.g. assembly apparatus or small machine tools, cams (136, 138) being mounted on shafts (132, 134) whose rotation, by cams (154, 164, 172) is used to actuate the reciprocating rod (18) and the positioning rod (52). The transfer means (24, 26) are also actuated by the shaft (134), a cam (184) on the shaft causing rotation of the gripping member (102) by rack and pinion means (178, 180). In Figs. 12, 13 (not shown) plates (74) of two assembly lines (70, 72) are in a common horizontal plane. The plates of Figs. 14, 15, 17, 18 (not shown) are moved in vertical position. The embodiment of Fig. 17 (also Fig. 16, not shown) has four assembly lines arranged in a rectangular endless path.
